The Fish Bite
June edition by Tom Welch
June is the best time of the year to
catch a nice batch of bluegills. All of
the lakes in this area are producing
very well right now.  The Chetek Chain
of Lakes, Otter Lake, Miller Dam,
Marshmiller are all good, and will be all
this month for sure, and if you can't
catch a bluegill, ask the expert here.
Jake can tell you how it's done and
here's the proof.  Looks to me like this
guy knows what he's doing for sure.
The walleyes will continue to improve again
this month, and should feed quite readily.
Musky fishermen should do well with a little
effort.  Look for crappies in the deeper water
now.  I've recently caught a lot of nice ones
in 20 feet of water and right on the bottom.
The catfish should be hitting well this month
and I'm going to do my best to do my part to
land a few of these rascals as they are really
good smoked.  Wouldn't even mind getting a
few of those spawning bullheads to put in
the smoker.  They can be caught right now ,
too.
Here's a nice 15 plus inch Yellow Bellied
Bullhead that came from the Chetek chain.
What a monster.  This is one happy little
fisherman and she's the one that caught it.
Careful how you handle that guy.  It could
get nasty if one of these little guys horned
you.  It's quite painful to say the least.
Haven't heard of too many big northerns
being caught, but there are lots of them to
be had.
Until next time, "keep that bait in the water"
as Gary says.  Be safe whatever you and
enjoy this summer fishing.  Make that fishing
with a child!!!!!!!
